JUSTIN LEVINSON, is an award-winning singer songwriter, who has joined forces with fellow Vermont based songsmith, BEN PATTON to collaboratively create LEVINSON’s album entitled, Collamer Circle.
LEVINSON and PATTON grew up in musical families; both have fathers who are professional musicians and songwriters. Justin and Ben knew of each other from their teen years when competing in the “Advance Homebrew High School Band Search” and throughout the years, they both kept tabs on each other’s careers, when in 2019 LEVINSON reached out to PATTON and proposed co-writing together.
The project came together at LEVINSON’s studio during the Covid Pandemic. LEVINSON describes the weekly co-writing sessions with PATTON as profoundly reflective and therapeutic during some really divisive and isolating times…“but the synergy was almost immediate, with us finishing each other’s musical sentences, while also pushing each other to think outside the box.”
In synch with the co-writers’ love of strong melody, lyrics and harmony and in contrast with their emotionally-balanced collaborative styles of charged power pop riffs and softer unplugged ballads, Collamer Circle picks up where LEVINSON’s last album, Yes Man left off, as it explores the complexity and (at times) angst of relationships (Burn Your Whole World)/(Madeline, for the Win), the importance of self and mutual awareness (I Wasn’t Capable)/(Then and There), the inevitability of relationship readiness (She Spreads Sunshine) and everything being all worthwhile when you find true love (Lead Me to You).
